Gear VR – Mobile VR is Here

Gear VR

An incredibly exciting time is almost upon us, the full commercial launch of Samsung’s Gear VR is just 3 days away at the time of writing, launching on November 20th in the US with the international release to follow. We’ll let you know the international launch dates when we hear more.

If you’re in the US you can pre-order your device for $99 via the official web site in the link below.

Gear VR Powered by Oculus

To those of you unfamiliar with the device, let us provide a little insight for you. Gear VR is a project that Samsung have developed alongside VR pioneers Oculus. It’s well documented that Gear VR offers one of the best mobile VR solutions at this point in time.

It works by using your Samsung mobile device as an integral part of the headset. Compatible devices with the launch Gear VR include the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge and Galaxy S6 edge+.

An important point is that unlike most other mobile VR solutions available now; the Gear VR itself has some clever tracking tech going on inside. This along with the powerful smartphones themselves allows Gear VR to deliver lower latency and improved performance on best in class displays.

So what does all of this mean?

Well it means that if you have one of the mobile devices previously mentioned or are planning to purchase one, for a little cash you will have access to some incredible VR experiences.

Here at Fierce Kaiju we love the Gear VR, it’s accessible, mobile, fun and if you’re looking to jump into VR gaming it’s a great entry point.
