Creative England

Creative England awarded £150,000 to Leeds City Region studios.

We know what you’re thinking why the large header image featuring the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on a blog post titled “Creative England”? Well my friends, please read on.

We’re very pleased to announce that Fierce Kaiju was awarded a grant as part of Creative England’s Gameslab Leeds Initiative.

This initiative is focused on on helping studios and digital companies develop something new and innovative. Gameslab Leeds is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and supported by the Regional Growth Fund.

Here at Fierce Kaiju we’re putting the grant to good use creating a new and unique VR IP. We will be revealing more details in the near future.

For more information on Gameslab Leeds check out the Creative England web site. The programme is still open so if you’re looking for support to kick off a new project; consider applying.

Gameslab Leeds takes 4 teams to GDC 17

Now we get to the Golden Gate Bridge/Creative England connection. Thanks to Creative England’s Gameslab programme they were able to fund four developers from the Leeds city region to join a GDC 2017 Trade Delegation and attend the conference. Fierce Kaiju were chosen as part of this group.

On our travels we got the chance to check out some incredible new content from the likes of Oculus, PlayStation, Microsoft and more. We heard inspiring talks, met new folk and caught up with industry friends.

Overall GDC was invaluable to us, we would highly recommend the trip and hope to visit again next year.
